Webb welcomes Platini and shows Grassroots development
George Town, Grand Cayman – CONCACAF and Cayman Islands Football Association President Jeffrey Webb welcomed UEFA President to the Cayman Islands to sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding to improve the working relationship between the confederations, but along the way Platini witnessed the next generation of Cayman footballers in action.
President Webb and President Platini visited a Grassroots Festival at the T.E Mcfield Sports Complex on Saturday, where almost 200 youth players were put through their paces by a cadre of dedicated coaches.
“The growth of the programme is very encouraging,” President Webb said. Based on the numbers and the passion shown by the players and volunteers I am confident the future of Cayman football is in good hands.”
Platini told a media conference, “It was very nice to see the young children enjoy the game and the passion for the game.” My advice is to have patience with the youth, don’t develop a programme to win the World Cup, focus on building good players.
