West Bay Road closure to be heard Thursday (25)

Dart-WB-Rd-project-wont-create-traffic-picJustice Alex Henderson said on Tuesday (23) morning the defendants had enough time to make a formal application against a strip of the West Bay Road being closed.

This means attorneys for both sides must appear in court on Thursday (25) morning to either make a formal application to the court to withdraw their application or are prepared to go ahead.

A group of four West Bay women filed a writ in February to stop Dart Realty from permanently closing a section of the West Bay Road that was part of a deal with the Government of the Cayman Islands (GCI) and the National Roads Authority (NRA).

The battle over the road closure has been ongoing for a very long time and was one of the key issues in the last May General Elections.

Last May local Architect, Rupert Ackermon, lost his application for a Judicial Review over the same piece of road. The judge, Charles Quin, said Ackermon had waited too long.
