Wildlife Explorer’s Guide to the Caymans published
The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism is offering visitors to the western Caribbean a guide to the wildlife experiences on offer.
Penned by wildlife journalist James Fair, the 16-page book features tips from the islands’ top experts and guides, including local entomologist and author of the ‘Butterflies of The Cayman Islands’ Ann Stafford.
The photography for the book has been done by Will Burrard-Lucas.
Also featured is Fred Burton, who succeeding in bringing back the world’s rarest iguana – the Grand Cayman Blue Iguana – from functional extinction. Thanks to his work, visitors have a good chance of seeing some of the 50 lizards roaming freely around the 65-acre Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park.
Other species that call the Caymans their home include bats, turtles and birds.
“What I love about the Cayman Islands is that nothing runs away from you,” commented Mr Fair. “It is as if you are as much an attraction for the wildlife as the wildlife is for you.”
