Winning Cayman Islands trainee chef heads to London

Chef Adam HandlingFor the very first time in January 2015, famed British Chef, Adam Handling participated in the internationally acclaimed foodie event of the year, Cayman Cookout. During his visit to Cayman, Chef Adam joined Executive Chef, Frederic Morineau of The Ritz-Carlton, in the judging of a competition which was designed to find an exciting young Caymanian Chef who would then go on to receive a fabulous opportunity. .

Desly Kyshon Missick was the winning young chef and will be travelling courtesy of British Airways who sponsored the prize. Kyshon will spend some time working with Chef Adam at his restaurant (“Adam Handling @Caxton”) located at the St Ermin’s Hotel in London’s trendy West End.

Kyshon, who works at the Camana Bay restaurant, Ortanique , emerged victorious from a group of young chefs who competed in a series of culinary challenges hosted by The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. He will fly to the UK on the direct British Airways flight on 5th May and will spend a week with Chef Adam in a busy, multi award winning London restaurant.

Chef Kyshon MissickChef Adam stated, “I am delighted to welcome Kyshon to my restaurant in May where he will work with top quality ingredients to help deliver my latest seasonal menu. London is the most dynamic foodie city in the world, so it will be great for a young Caymanian chef to experience how we do fine dining British style.”

Prize winning chef Kyshon said, “I would like to thank The Ritz-Carlton and British Airways for the opportunity to travel to London to work under “Masterchef” Adam and to gain his award winning knowledge and skills.”

A British Airways spokesman said “British Airways is delighted to sponsor Kyshon’s trip to London as this will be a great learning experience for him in one of the great food capitals of the world”
