Winston Chung to receive FIFA order of merit at the 62nd FIFIA Congress 24-25 May 2012
Winston Chung, former Technical Director of the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) and founder of The Academy Sports Club will be receiving
the highest order of distinction in the world of football at the 62nd FIFA Congress, in Budapest, Hungary on 24-25 May 2012.
“I am surprised and overwhelmed by this great honour of recognition.” said Winston Chung, “My work has been extremely rewarding, and I share the FIFA Order of Merit with all the young footballers that have worked so hard to improve their skills and continue their education. I hope this achievement is a beacon for
them to aspire to their dreams.” Mr. Chung continued, “I would very much like to thank my wife Barbara and my children for being my inspiration and supporting my efforts over the years. As well, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Jeffrey Webb, President of CIFA, for nominating me for this prestigious award.”
For over 18 years, Mr. Chung has been committed to developing and supporting young football talent. Affectionately known as Coach Chungie, Winston has
championed scholarship and education programmes for young footballers to develop their skill and education abroad. The Academy Sports Club was his vision over 12 years ago and has contributed to the development of young football talent in the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and the United States of America.

“Winston Chung’s commitment and dedication to the development and education of young football players reaches far beyond the Caribbean.” said Jeffrey Webb, President of CIFA, “He has inspired young footballers to reach higher, and supported them to go farther than any other individual I have known, on or off the field.”
Mr. Chung received notification of the special recognition in a formal letter from Joseph Blatter, President of the FIFA, and Jerome Valcke, Secretary General of the FIFA, and an invitation to attend the 62nd FIFA Congress.
