A 64-year-old woman had her gold necklace snatched by a male on a bicycle in George Town this morning (Tuesday, 12 March 2013).
About 9.05 am the woman was walking in Tigris Street, off Shedden Road, when a male on a bicycle approached her from behind. He grabbed the gold necklace (chain and Spanish coin) from around her neck and rode off into Myles Lane.
The woman sustained a slight neck injury in the incident but did not require any medical treatment.
The suspect has been described as being between 15 and 21 years of age, of slim build with a dark complexion. He had short dark afro hair and was wearing a black shirt and dark coloured pants. The bicycle was also dark in colour.
Anyone who was in the area this morning and witnessed the incident, or the cyclist making off from the scene, is asked to contact DC Terryanne Iton of George Town CID on 325-6705.

A woman was walking along Tigris Street by Shedden Road near Phillips Electrical at approximately 9:05am Tuesday morning (12) and was mugged.
A man riding a bicycle at first rode past her and then turned his bicycle around. As he passed his victim he grabbed the Spanish coin on a chain necklace she was wearing and ripped it off her neck before riding off.
The woman was unhurt but visibly very shaken up.
The RCIPS are investigating.
