Universal Pictures’ Dark Universe is off to a rocky start. The Mummy, which isintended to be the monster movie universe’s equivalent of Iron Man orMan of Steel, brought in just $12 million from 4,035 locations on Friday, even with the star power of Tom Cruise. The film is expected to earn just over $30 million over its opening weekend.

Animated superhero movie Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie drops from second to third place in its second week at the box office. The film earned $3.5 million on Friday from 3,529 locations and is expected to bring in a total of $13 million over the weekend. The film’s total will stand at just over $44 million.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sinks down to fourth place. The fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie earned $3 million from 3,679 locations on Friday and is expected to earn $10.5 million over the weekend, bringing its domestic total to over $135 million.

Rounding out the top five this week is newcomer It Comes At Night. The latest horror movie from A24 earned $2.5 million on Friday alone. That’s more than its budget of $2.4 million. The film is expected to earn $6.5 million through the weekend.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 finally slips out of the box office top five, landing at the number six spot. Baywatch also slides out to number seven, and Alien: Covenant falls to number nine.
